Gas infrastructure facilities still rely on government?s funds

Gas infrasructure in most of the country?s provinces are still inadequate because their construction relies heavily on funds from the government and state companies, a senior official at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said.

Director General of Oil and Gas Evita Legowo said in Jakarta recently the participation of the private sector in the construction of the gas infrastructure would therefore be needed in order to overcome gas shortage facing the country.

Evita said that at present the construction of gas infrastructure both for distribution and receiving facilities still relied on the government?s funds. She said a number of gas receiving projects such as construction of floating storage and regassification units (FSRUs) in West Java, Central Java and North Sumatra would be funded by the government.(*)
