Gas infrastructure projects to be completed in 2014

Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik said that Indonesia is developing eight gas infrastructure projects that will be completed in 2014 and will integrate all gas pipelines from Sumatra island to Java island.

Speaking in a hearing with the House of Representatives? (DPR) Commission VII dealing with energy in Jakarta on Tuesday, the minister said that the development of the eight projects will strengthen the security of gas supply for industries that will in turn drive the growth of national economy.

The eight projects are the revitalization of LNG Arun by PT Pertamina that is scheduled to be completed in fourth quarter of 2014, the development of Arun-Belawan (Aceh-North Sumatra) pipeline by PT Pertamina that is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2014, the development of floating storage and re-gasification unit (FSRU) Lampung by PT PGN that is scheduled to be finalized in 2014.

Then the development of Cirebon-Bekasi pipeline by PT Pertagas that is scheduled to be finalized in the 4th quarter of 2014, the development of Cirebon-Semarang pipeline by a consortium of PT Rekayasa Industri and PT Pertamina that will be finalized in the 3rd quarter of 2014.

The other three projects are the development of Gresik-Semarang pipeline by PT Pertagas that will be completed in the 3rd quarter of 2014, the development of FSRU Central Java by PT Pertamina that is scheduled to be finalized in the 4th quarter of 2014, and the development of Kepodang-Tambak Lorok pipeline that is scheduled to be completed in 2014.

He added that as part of integrating the gas infrastructure, PT Nusantara Regas had completed the development of the FSRU West Java and had started operation.

?Once the projects have been completed, then gas can be distributed to industrial centers in the two islands,? he told House members.
