Gas production at the Mahakam block, in East Kalimantan, in the first quarter of this year exceeded target, said a senior official of the block?s operator.
Vice President for Human Resources, Communications, and General Services at Total E&P Indonesie, Arividia Noviyanto said on Monday that gas output in the first three-month period of this year reached 1,750 mmscfd, higher than the 1,500 mmscfd target.
Meanwhile, oil and condensate output stood at 65,000 bpd, in line with target, but 6.89 percent lower compared to 69,800 bpd last year.
He explained that output has been traditionally higher in the early part of the year, expecting lower production in the following months as the block has entered the period of declining output trend. As such, he said that the company maintains this year?s gas production target at an average of 1,500 mmscfd.
Gas from the Mahakam block is channeled to industries in East Kalimantan and to the LNG plant opwerated by PT Badak NGL. ?The 1,750 mmscfd output is production at the wellhead, of which 300 mmscfd is allocated for industries and 1,300-1,400 mmscfd for the Badak LNG plant,? Arividia said.
