Gas production at the Mahakam block, in East Kalimantan, which is operated by French oil and gas firm Total E&P Indonesie, has currently reached 1,640 mmscfd, exceeding target for this year, said a senior official of the firm.

?The current gas production forecast was 1.72 bcf per day (wellhead) or 1.64 bcf per day (inlet),? Vice President for Human Resources, Communications, and General Services at Total, Arividia Noviyanto told Petromindo.com.

Arividya told this portal in April that the gas production target for Mahakam this year was set at 1,500 mmscfd.

Gas from the Mahakam block is channeled to industries in East Kalimantan and to the LNG plant operated by PT Badak NGL. Arividya said earlier that the gas output is production at the wellhead, of which 300 mmscfd is allocated for industries and the remaining gas for the Badak LNG plant.
