The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body, BPH Migas will open a tender for the construction of natural gas pipelines projects worth about US$318 million in five regions in August, 2007, Bisnis Indonesia reported Friday.
The pipeline projects include one transmission pipeline linking Muara Bekasi to Cirebon and four distribution pipelines which respectively will link Surabaya to Gresik, Probolinggo to Pasuruan, Sidoardjo to Mojokerto and in Batam.
BPH Migas’ head Tubagus Haryono said in Jakarta Thursday that a committee of BPH Migas was discussing the tender plan before setting up a tender team.
Earlier BPH Migas auctioned off three transmission pipeline projects which will respectvely link Gresik to Semarang (258 km, was won by state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina), Cirebon-Semarang (228 km, won by PT Rekayasa Industri) and East Kalimantan-Central Java (1,219 km, won by PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk).
The Muara Bekasi-Cirebon transmission pipeline lwill connect with the Semarang-Muara Bekasi pipeline which will become a nearest meeting point for gas supplies from South Sumatra through the South Sumatra-West Java pipeline (SSWJ) and those from East Kalimantan through the East Kalimantan-Central Java pipeline.
Assuming that the construction of the transmission and distribution pipeline projects will take around three years, all of the projects will come onstream in 2010 or 2011. (*)
