PT Pertamina EP said that the gas spurt from KTB-18 well located in Ketaling village within its Jambi field has now largely receded, while also ensuring that the gas was non flammable and non toxic.
"As of today (Thursday) the gas spurt has receded. What's left now is small bubbles. It is harmless as it is non flammable," said PR Manager Agus Amperianto to Petromindo.com.
The incident occurred on July 15 evening during a drilling. It was taking place when the drilling was reaching a depth of 351 meters.
Agus added that the incident caused insignificant material impact and that activities of local communities surrounding the site were normal.
