PT Pertamina EP, a subsidiary of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina has delayed the supply of gas from Gundih field to PLTGU Tambak Lorok combined cycle power plant in Semarang, Central Java owned by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
The gas supply has been delayed to March from the initial schedule of January this year, according to PEP.
?My prediction proved right. Gundih gas will come late again. It is likely to come in April. I hope it won?t be an April Mop. This is because no penalty can be imposed under the gas contract,? Suryadi Mardjoeki, PLN?s Gas and Oil Fuel Division Head, told Petromindo.com.
Suryadi said the power plant has been 100 percent ready to accept the gas.
PEP's Director of Exploration and Development, Doddy Priambodo and PEP?s spokesperson Agus Amperianto confirmed that the gas supply from Gundih has been delayed.
Doddy said the Central Processing Plant (CPP) of Gundih is now still in the pre-commissioning stage and the pre-commissioning works are being carried out in a careful way since the gas has a high content of sulfide and carbon dioxide.
"Hopefully the pre-commissioning phase can be immediately completed," he said.
Separately, Agus said the gas supply has been delayed because the consortium of PT Inti Karya Persada Teknik (IKPT) and Adhi Karya failed to anticipate ?the arrival of equipment? for the CPP.
?Besides, the heavy rains have hampered mobilization of workers to the CPP and the finalization of some works,? Agus explained.
He said all equipment for the CPP should have been delivered this month but the delivery is likely to be delayed due to the weather. Some of the equipment are to be delivered through sea,? he said.
