A technical problem at Conoco-Phillips' gas transmitting facilities at its gas field in Grissik, Jambi has resulted in the sharp decline of gas supply to PLN Batam, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

Sources said that the gas supply received by PLN Batam had declined to about 7 million cubic feet per day from about 13 million cubic feet per day previously due to the technical problem.

According to the sources, a water injection equipment at Conoco-Phillips' gas transmitting facilities has been damaged. The gas producer will need at least three weeks to carry out repair works at the damaged facilities.

A similar technical problem suffered by Conoco-Phillips early this year, but the supply to PLN Batam was not affected. (*)
