The U.S. technology giant General Electric (GE) claims that its technology is used in 30 percent of Indonesia's existing around 52 GW power plants.

Handry Satriago, CEO of GE Indonesia told the media on Thursday that the GE technology now used in Indonesia power plants include water system, boiler, steam and gas turbine wit control system, grid management and renewable technology.

He added that as a company, GE has always been committed to supporting the Government of Indonesia and Indonesian people as partner in transportation, aviation, energy and healthcare sectors. "Our commitment remains the same in delivering power to Indonesian people," he said.

Handry added that currently GE has a broader portfolio of power and energy solutions following its recent acquisition of Alstom. "The acquisition of Alstom's energy businesses is the biggest industrial investment GE has ever made."

With regards the power projects to be built under the 35,000 power program, Handry said the firm did not target specific projects but is trying to grab as many projects as possible in its marketing efforts.

"All we can say is that we will always join every tender of the 35 GW power plant projects. We are targeting as many projects as possible in marketing our technology," he said.

According to Handry, globally there are over 13,500 GE gas turbine and steam turbine units now in use in more than 1,500 GW power plants, providing electricity for industry, commercial business and society in over 120 countries. "Around 15 GW of them is in Indonesia," he said.
