GE signs MoU to develop a technology center

General Electric (GE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PT. Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), Garuda Indonesia, and PT Pertamina to jointly develop a GE Learning and Technology Center in Indonesia.
?We have seen an extraordinary growth of our business here over the past two years, in tandem with the country?s accelerated growth to build more infrastructure,? Jeff Immelt, GE?s Chairman and CEO, said when addressing the MOU signing ceremony in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The GE Learning and Technology Center, which is expected to be realized in the next five years, will serve as a center for leadership and engineering and localization of GE applied technology in the country.
He added that his company plans to spend more than US$ 300 million in Indonesia as part of its commitment to support the country?s infrastructure development.
Handry Satriago, CEO GE Indonesia, said that the center development is part of his company?s commitment to support the growth of its customers in Indonesia that will in turn maintain GE?s sustainable growth in the long term.
?The investment plan and the partnership to develop GE Learning and Technology Center demonstrate our firm commitment to grow together with our costumers and with Indonesia,? he said.
GE has been in Indonesia since 1940, providing the latest technology and solutions in aviation, transportation, power generation, energy management, oil and gas, health, and lighting.
Until now, the US company has invested over $1 billion in Indonesia and has seen a consistent double digit growth in revenue during the last few years.
