Energy company General Electric (GE) Oil and Gas Indonesia has been selected as the supplier of two compressor gas turbine units for the South Tunu phase 11 gas field project at Mahakam River?s delta in East Kalimantan, Investor Daily reported Friday.

"These GE machines are scheduled to arrive at project?s location in January 2008 and they will begin their operations in the third quarter of the same year,? GE Oil & Gas CEO and president director Claudi Santiago said in Jakarta on Thursday

Claudi said Tunu 11 project is designed to increase the supply of gas from Tunu gas field to PT Badak NGL liquefied natural gas refinery in East Kalimantan. Badak refinery is one of the world?s biggest LNG refineries.

Total E&P Indonesie, in a partnership with Tokyo-based Inpex Corporation, is the operator of the Mahakam Contract Block in East Kalimantan. In 2005 The Mahakam Block produced an average of 2600 mmscfd of gas mainly from the Tunu and Peciko fields. Most of the gas is delivered to the Bontang LNG Plant as feedstock for exports of LNG to Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The gas is also sold to the fertilizer and petrochemical industries in Bontang while crude oil and condensate is lifted directly from the BSP oil terminal at the East Kalimantan coast. (*)
