GEMS appoints contractor for S. Sumatra mine

IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Golden energy Mines TBk (GEMS) has appointed PT Bintang Sukses Energy to carry out mining activities for its newly acquired mine PT Bara Sentosa Lestari (BSL) in South Sumatra.

CEO Bonifasius told Petromindo.Com that the contractor will be appointed for three years and can be extended upon satisfactory performance.

Bonifasius did not give detail when the mining work will start, but said acquisition of BSL will be completed in September.

Earlier, Bonifasius said that BSL is targeted to produce 500,000 tonnes this year.

GEMS acquired BSL earlier this month. BSL was a producing mine, but forced to stop production when coal price plunged.
