Jambi terminal to start operation early 2014

IDX-listed coal mining company PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk (GEMS) said that the expansion of the coal conveyor facility at the Bunati port, which is located near the mining site of subsidiary PT Borneo Indobara in Angsana District, Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The company said in a presentation material on Monday that the project will expand the annual capacity of the conveyor capacity from 4 million tons to 12 million tons in line with the increase of the coal output of Borneo.
The company also said that a new coal terminal near its mine site in Teluk Nilau village in Pengabuan District, Tanjung Jabung Regency, Jambi, is expected to start operation in January of 2014. The port will have a capacity of 2-3 million tons per year.
In addition to the Teluk Nilau mine, Golden Energy, part of the Sinar Mas Group, also operates a number of coal mines in South and Central Kalimantan. This year, the company expected to produce 9 million tons of coal.
