Malaysian firm Genting Oil Kasuri Pte Ltd (GOKPL) expects the revised Plan of Development (POD) on Kasuri block in West Papua Province can be submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for approval in late January or early February of this year.
"The POD on Kasuri is already at the final stage of discussion. Hopefully, at the end of January or early February it can be submitted to the ministry,"External Affairs Manager of GOKPL, Listriyanto told Petromindo.com on Monday.
Upstream authority SKK Migas received the revised POD on Kasuri block from GOKPL in August of last year.
Separately, SKK Migas Deputy Chairman Zikrullah said confirmed that the POD is currently being finalized, hopefully to be completed this month.
He said that once the POD has been approved by the ministry, signing of the gas sales agreement will follows.
He added that gas output from the Kasuri block is proposed to be prioritized for a planned petrochemical project to be developed in Bintuni, West Papua. As has been previously reported, Germany?s Ferrostaal plans to build a US$1.5 billion petrochemical project in Bintuni.
