Malaysian oil, gas firm Genting Oil & Gas Limited has made ?significant? gas discovery in Kasuri PSC block onshore West Papua, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Elan Biantoro told Petromindo.Com that the Asap #1 well flowed 100MMCFD of gas during drill-stem test from three layers.

Elan said BPMIGAS has asked Genting to immediately drill 1-2 appraisal wells to analyze the size of the discovery.

?If gas potential from the discovery is significant, we could supply Kasuri gas to support Tangguh LNG train 3 development, ? he said.

According to the company?s website, the Block is located onshore the Bomberai Peninsula . The block surrounds and includes the Tangguh LNG Plant, where gas from the immediate vicinity can be processed. The Kasuri Block is gas-prone and Genting has defined several prospects and leads that are expected to contain gas in the various Pre-Tertiary reservoirs that occur in the region.(godang)
