Genting may have made oil, gas discovery in Papua

Malaysian oil, gas firm Genting Oil may have discovered oil and gas from its Kasuri I exploration well at the Kasuri PSC block, onshore West Papua.

 

Upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS? spokesman Elan Biantoro told Petromindo.Com on Wednesday that Genting Oil will conduct drill steam test (DST) for the well tomorrow.

 

Genting has 100 percent stake in the block, which was awarded in 2008.

 

According to the company?s website, the Block is located onshore the Bomberai Peninsula . The block surrounds and includes the Tangguh LNG Plant, where gas from the immediate vicinity can be processed. The Kasuri Block is gas-prone and Genting has defined several prospects and leads that are expected to contain gas in the various Pre-Tertiary reservoirs that occur in the region.(godang)
