Genting Oil Kasuri Pte Ltd (GOKPL), a subsidiary of Genting Energy of Malaysia, has discovered oil and gas in Kido-1x well of Kasuri Block in West Papua.
The company said in a press release on Friday that Kido-1x well will be temporarily abandoned pending next steps to be implemented for the well.
GOKPL, operator of Kasuri PSC, has terminated Rig DU-901 from the Kido-1X well, which is the deepest onshore well ever drilled in Indonesia. The depth of the well reaches up to 5.386 m RKB. It was drilled on June 21, 2013 and had been temporarily abandoned since July 13, 2014 as a discovery of oil and gas well.
GOKPL is currently conducting a 3D seismic survey on the structure of the discovery. The results of the drilling and seismic will be used to estimate the reserve of hydrocarbons in the well.
