Genting Oil will conduct drilling work at three exploration wells within the Kasuri Block in West Papua this year. The company is currently drilling the Rajawali-IX and Merah-IX wells, a senior official at upstream authority SKK Migas said.

Head of Exploration Division at SKK Migas, Nugrahani told Petromindo.com that drilling at the Asap Genting structure confirms ?contingent reservers? of 2 TCF. The company has conducted drilling in three exploration wells in the Asap structure respectively in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Nugrahani said that Genting has yet to provide information on the results of the drilling at Rajawali-IX and Merah-IX wells, but indications show that Rajawali will produce gas.

?Probably in 2014 the POD will be proposed. The POD scenario will be combined with the results of other drilling works aside from the Asap structure. If it?s only 2 TCP in Papua, it would be uneconomical,? Nugrahani said.

Nugrahani added that the exploration period for Genting in Papua is six years, which will expire May 2014 (signed contract May 27, 2008). ?They need time to drill delineation well for Rajawali (Rajawali-2X), and also Merah (Merah-2X). Also needs to drill other structures, so that the scenario for the field development in the POD will be combined. The DST for Rajawali will be in the near future.?
