Genting to start Papua drilling campaign in 2010

Malaysian oil, gas firm Genting Oil will drill start drilling campaign at its Kasuri PSC onshore West Papua next year, an official with upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said.

 

Exploration Division Head Anditya MT Ibrahim told Petromindo.Com that Genting has been cleared to drill three wells in Kasuri Block in 2010/11 period. The wells are Asap-1X, Asap-2X and Merah-1X, he said.

 

He did not give further detail.

 

Genting was awarded Kasuri block in May 2008.

 

The Kasuri Block covers an area of 3,534 sq km onshore the Bomberai Peninsula in West

Papua and is immediately adjacent to the offshore Tangguh Gas fields. (bernard)
