PT Geo Dipa Energi, a geothermal JV company between state electricity firm PLN and state oil, gas firm Pertamina, is looking to almost triple capacity of its Dieng power plant in Central Java in 2014.

President Director Praktimia Semiawan told reporters on Tuesday that the company is planning to start construction to build additional 2x55MW at Dieng in 2011. Currently the company operates one unit of generator at Dieng with capacity of 60MW.

Geo Dipa would need US$300 million for 2x55MW additional capacity, she said.

Praktimia said Geo Dipa would ask for electricity price above 6 US cents per kwh for electricity generated by the proposed units.(godang)
