Geo Dipa starts construction of Patuha 1 geothermal plant

The groundbreaking for the construction of the power plant which would have production capacity of 1 x 55 MW was carried out on May 23.
The new geothermal plant, which is expected to begin commercial operation in April 15, 2014, is one of dozens of power plants to be built as part of the government?s second-10,000 MW power plant development program.
PT Geo Dipa Energi has appointed a consortium comprising of Marubeni Corporation of Japan, PT Matlamat Cakera Canggih to build the power plant. The electricity production from the power plant will be supplied to PLN?s Jawa-Madura-Bali power interconnection.
Total investment is expected to reach US$144.22 million. To partly finance the project, PT Geo Dipa has secured loan commitment worth $103 million from Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI).
At present, PT Geo Dipa Energi operates PLTP Dieng Unit 1 geothermal power plant (1x60 MW) in Dieng geothermal field, Central Java, which has geothermal reserves of about 400 MW. The company also plans to build PLTP Patuha Unit 2 and 3 (2x55 MW) and PLTP Dieng Unit 2 and 3 (2x55 MW).
