The Attorney General?s Office will soon summon former energy and mineral resources minister Ginandjar Kartasasmita to further verify his alleged involved in a corruption and collusion case related to the awarding of a technical assistance contract to PT Ustraindo Petro Gas to operate oil concession in Prabumulih, South Sumatra, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.
Andi Syarifuddin, a spokesman for the Attorney General?s Office, said in Jakarta on Tuesday that Ginandjar, now the vice speaker of the People?s Consultative Assembly (MPR) would be summoned as a suspect in the corruption case after the audit team completed the financial loss of about US$17 million involving in the corruption case.
According to Andi, Ginandjar had abused his power by ordering the director general of oil and gas to appoint PT UPG to operate the Prabumulih oil concession under a technical contract agreement without involving Pertamina which legally has the exclusive rights to manage the country?s oil and gas resources.
