Global commodity prices to rise in 2014: Minister

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa said on Tuesday that the global commodity prices, including mineral ores, are expected to improve in 2014 as the global economy recovers.

Hatta said that the price improvement would create a recovery in the country's mining sector.

"The world economy is going to improve (next year), it is impossible that (the economy of) Europe and U.S. keep continuing like this," said Hatta.

Many miners in the country have to trim down production to counter weakening global commodity price. Some reportedly have been forced to suspend operation.
