PT Godang Tua Jaya will team up with the US based company Solena Technology in developing a waste-fired power plant in the Bantargebang waste dumping ground in Bekasi, West Java, Kontan reported on Friday.

Douglas J. Manurung, the president director of Godang Tua Jaya said that the Solena would be one of several companies which would be involved in the development and the operation of the PLTSa Bantargebang biomass power plant.

?We will sign a joint development agreement with the consortium members on February 28,? he said. In addition to Godang Tua and Solena Technology, the consortium would also include state owned oil and gas company Pertamina and General Electric of the US.

Manurung said that Pertamina would become a majority shareholder in the consortium which would build and operate the biomass power plant, with a capacity of between 120 megawatt (MW) and 138 MW.

After the signing of the cooperation agreement, the consortium would begin a feasibility study for the power plant development as well as to set up a joint venture which would operate the power plant. ?So, we hope the front end engineering design (FEED), the final investment decision (FID) and the tender for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) could be completed this year,? he said.

He hoped the construction could be started at the end of this year so that the power plant would be able to begin operation in late 2014 or early 2015. (*)
