GOKPL to conduct exploration drilling of Bedidi-1

The production sharing contractor Genting Oil Kasuri Pte Ltd (GOKPL) is scheduled to conduct an exploration drilling in Bedidi-1, Kasuri Block, in Fakfak regency of West Papua province, in September this year.
GOKPL External Affairs Coordinator Ermon Idrus informed about the drilling plan on Monday when attending a socialization gathering of the drilling plan Monday in Kokas district, Fakfak regency of West Papua province. The socialization was organized to inform the public on the drilling plan so that it would be supported by the local people.
The socialization gathering was officially opened by Fakfak regency?s Mine and Energy Division Head Aerobi Hindom, and was attended by local officials of district administrations, including Kokas District Head Subandri Fuad, Bomberai District Head Safar Salawati, BPMIGAS Papua and Maluku Operation Head Otniel Lodewyk Wafom, local public figures and representatives of the local people.
Aerobi Hindom said that the local administration and local people will support the drilling, which will be conducted in September this year, and he hoped that it would bring positive effects to the region.
The socialization was conducted after Fakfak regent gave his recommendation to the drilling plan recently. It is expected that all local officials and local people will support the exploration drilling..
Genting Oil has earlier conducted 3D seismic survey on 200 sqkm (surface footprint) at its Kasuri PSC, West Papua. Genting holds 100 percent stake in the block which was awarded in 2008 and is operating it through its unit Genting Oil Kasuri Pte Ltd.
