Golar says first gas from W. Java FSRU in 2nd quarter

LNG vessel firm Golar LNG reported on Tuesday that the West Java floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) project is entering its final phases of project execution with first gas expected during the second quarter of 2012.

According to the company, mechanical completion of the FSRU conversion is targeted at Jurong shipyard by the end of first quarter 2012.

The mooring jetty construction which is fifteen kilometres offshore Java will reach mechanical completion in February 2012.

The company?s FSRU Khannur, in compliance with cabotage requirements, is now Indonesian flagged and has been renamed Nusantara Regas Satu. The vessel is in the final stages of vessel registration prior to its importation, the company said.

The West Java FSRU project is operated by PT Nusantara Regas, a joint venture between PT Pertamina and state-owned gas distributor PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk. Golar leases the FSRU for approximately 11 years to Nusantara Regas.

The FSRU was designed to deliver up to 500 million standard cubic feet per day of regasified LNG to Nusantara Regas? downstream pipeline.
