Gold exploration by PT Masmindo not clear

Gold miner PT Masmindo Eka Dwi Area has stopped its gold exploration activities in South Sulawesi since 1999, and since then, there is no news about the planned resumption of the exploration activities, Satunet reported on Thursday The head of South Sulawesi mining office, Olleke Jasin, said the company stopped its exploration activities in three regencies in the province in 1999, that was prompted by the sharp fall of gold prices in international market.
Olleke, however, said that his party had no knowledge on when the company would resume its exploration activities in the area.
PT Masindo Eka Dwiera had been exploring for gold in the areas shared by three regencies, namely Wajo, Sidrap and Enrekang since 1980s. (*)
