Gold miner found alive after being buried for 24 hours

Maman, a 30 year-old illegal miner was found alive on Thursday after being buried in a 20-meter deep well, which collapsed when he and his collages tried to dig out gold deposits from the well in Pongkor, Bogor, the mining sites of the state-owned PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) .
The incident occurred at midnight on Wednesday when about a hundred of other illegal miners were busy with similar activities, Kompas reported on Friday.
The other miners rushed to help Maman by digging out the collapsed well with the traditional equipment, and managed to save his life after 24 hours under the ground.
Maman only suffered minor injuries in the debacle. The man, who has worked in the place for almost a year, earned between Rp 15,000 and Rp 20,000 a day. (*)
