IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Golden Eagle Energy Tbk is looking to participate in the development of four coal mine mouth power plant projects in South Sumatra Province.

President of Golden Eagle Roza Permana Putra said on Monday that the company will take up a minority stake in a consortium which will participate in upcoming tender for the planned four mine mouth power plant projects including Sumsel 6, Sumsel 1, Sumbagsel 1 and Sumatra 1.

He said that the despite the minority stake, Golden Eagle will benefit from supplying the required coal for the potential projects. ?We?re looking at a number of prospective (mine mouth power plant) projects,? he said.

Golden Eagle last year produced 950,000 tons of coal from its mines in South Sumatra and Kalimantan. This year, the company plans to increase production to 1.4 million tons. Roza said the company will continue to optimize coal production from its mines.
