Government agrees to provide tax allowance for 18 firms

The government has agreed to provide tax allowance for 18 companies this year, up from 10 last year, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Haris Munandar, Head of Research and Development at the Ministry of Industry, as saying that the Ministry of Finance regulation on tax allowance for 10 of the 18 companies has been issued, which means that the requested tax facility has been officially approved.

He added that the process to get tax allowance this year is not easier than in the past.

The paper said that among of the firms that would get tax allowance this year are PT SMART Tbk for investment in biodiesel plant, PT Well Harvest Winning Alumina for investment in alumina smelter, PT Batutua Tembaga Raya for investment in copper ingots production, PT Megah Surya Pertiwi which produces ferro-nickel, pulp and paper firm PT Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper Tbk, producer of chemical and plastic raw materials PT Asahimas Chemical, and car maker PT Astra Daihatsu Motor.
