Government assigns 8 oil, gas working areas to Pertamina

The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has decided to assign oil and gas working areas whose contracts are set to expire in 2018 to state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina.

The oil and gas working areas (WK) include WK Ogan Komering (current contract to expire February 28, 2018), WK Sanga-Sanga, (August 7), WK Southeast Sumatera (Sept 5), WK Tengah (October 4), WK NSO (October 16), WK East Kalimantan (October 24), WK Attaka (December 31).

Pertamina is allowed to seek partners in developing the new oil and gas assets. ?The taking over by Pertamina of eight working areas have been properly prepared,? said company President Director Dwi Soetjipto on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar said that the move is expected to help strengthen Pertamina as the country?s national oil and gas company.
