Government completes wind mapping

The government has recently completed wind mapping to assess wind power potential in the country as part of efforts to develop renewable sources of energy as alternative to fossil fuels.

?We have also conducted detail analysis in a number of locations. We?re committed to develop wind power,? said Maritjet Hutapea, Director for Renewable Energy at the Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

To help attract investors in developing wind power in the country, Maritje said that the government is currently drafting the fee-in tariff, which would arrange the selling price of wind power from developers to customers. ?My target is for the regulation to be completed by end of July,? she said.
