Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said said that the government plans to evaluate the current selling price of electricity produced by private power producers to state-owned electricity firm PLN in a bid to lure badly needed investment into the sector.

?The principle is there will be incentives to attract new investment,? Sudirman said as quoted by Koran Tempo Saturday, adding that the plan is still being discussed by related government offices.

The new administration of President Joko Widodo has announced plans to develop new power plants with a combined capacity of 35,000 MW over the next five years in a bid to increase electricity supply to help accelerate economic growth. Part of the projects will be developed by the private sector. (*)
