The ministry said in a statement Friday that the tariff adjustment was made following weaker exchange rate of the rupiah against the US dollar and higher oil price (Indonesia Crude Price) in August, despite a lower inflation rate during the month.
The statement said that the low voltage tariff has been increased to Rp 1,459.74/kWh, medium voltage tariff to Rp 1,111.34/kWh, high voltage to Rp 994.80/kWh, and tariff of special service to Rp 1,630.49/kWh. It did not provide comparative figures for the previous month.
The government applies 37 power tariff categories, 12 of which are non-subsidized, and 25 are subsidized. The tariff of the latter group remains unchanged. According to the existing regulation, the tariff of the 12 tariff categories is adjusted every month depending on the development of the exchange rate of the rupiah, oil price and inflation rate.
The ministry said that the tariffs for October of this year are still lower compared to the same month in the previous year.
