The Indonesian government has decided to keep electricity tariffs unchanged for the January–March 2026 period, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR).

Acting Director General of Electricity at the Ministry, Tri Winarno, said on Wednesday that tariffs for 13 non-subsidized customer groups will remain the same in the first quarter of 2026.

Under Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Regulation No. 7 of 2024, electricity tariffs for non-subsidized customers are reviewed every three months based on macroeconomic indicators, including the exchange rate, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and the benchmark coal price (HBA). Despite formula-based calculations indicating the potential for adjustment, the government opted not to change tariffs.

Tri also said electricity tariffs for 24 subsidized customer groups will remain unchanged, with subsidies continuing to be provided.

The decision was taken to maintain economic stability at the start of 2026. The ministry has asked state utility PT PLN (Persero) to maintain power supply reliability, improve service quality, and enhance operational efficiency.
