Government launches 20 new oil, gas blocks tender

The government on Friday officially launches the tender for 20 new oil and gas blocks for this year, nine of them through regular mechanism.

The new blocks offered through regular scheme are Bulu Rembang, offshore Timor Sea 1, offshore Timor Sea II, Halmahera I, Halmahera II, Halmahera III , West Aru I, West Aru II and Arafura Sea II.

The new blocks offered through direct proposal are Ranau, Northeast Madura , West Tanjung , Belayan, East Simenggaris , North Ganal , Babar Selaru, Obi, North Semai , West Berau and Semai IV.

Government has also awarded three new exploration blocks with investment commitment of US$113.7 million.

The three blocks are Arguni I (offshore and onshore West Papua) awarded to Eni Indonesia Limited, SW Bird's Head (offshore and onshore West Papua) to Total E&P Activities Petrolieres, and East Jabung (offshore and onshore Riau, Jambi, and South Sumatra) to Pan Orient Energy Holdings Ltd.

Total investment commitments from these companies is US$113.7 million, while government gets signature bonus of US$31.5 million.(godang)
