Government plans integrated gas infrastructure in Kalimantan

The government plans to develop integrated gas infrastructure facilities in Kalimantan, starting in gas-rich East Kalimantan Province.
Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources IGN Wiratmaja Puja said in a statement Thursday following a visit to the East Kalimantan that gas pipeline has existed linking the northern part of Bontang and Tarakan in the province, and the government will build new pipelines in the southern part, starting with Samarinda, with a vision that the entire Kalimantan island will be connected. ?There are plenty of gas here (in Kalimantan), so gas must be utilized more,? he said in the statement.
Wiratmaja said that the project is targeted to be completed within 10 years. He did not provide further details.
