The government has proposed three names to replace Rachmat Sudibyo as chairman of upstream regulatory body BP Migas.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said on Wednesday that the government had sent the list of the candidates for BP Migas new chairman to the House of Representatives for a fit and proper test.

The three are Iin Arifin Takhyan, now director general of oil and gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Trijana Kartoadmodjo, BP Migas deputy chairman for operations and Kardaya Warnika, BP Migas vice chairman.

Under the existing law, the House selects BP chairman from several names proposed by the President.

Since the current sitting period of the House will end on December 8, the House is mostly likely to start the selection process in the next sitting period which is to begin in January next year.

Sources said among the three names, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono favors Iin to become the next chairman of BP Migas. (Godang/Alex)
