Government to allow import of LNG for FSRU

Thursday, June 21 2012 - 01:42 AM WIB

The LNG requirement for several planned floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) facilities will be supplied through import as no domestic company could fulfill the demand, said Vice Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources Rudi Rubiandini as reported by Kontan on Thursday.

Rudi said that despite the lingering uncertainty on LNG supply, the planned construction of several FSRU facilities must continue as FSRU is necessary to support the development of LNG pipelines across the country.

?The Arun, Belawan, Lampung, Central Java, East Java, and Bali FSRU must be developed, albeit gradually,? he said, while adding that there?s no need for debating the source of LNG as it could come from anywhere depending on price, availability and other business considerations. (*)
