Government to announce new Pertamina director this afternoon

The government will announce this afternoon at around 5 p.m. the new upstream director of state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina, said State Minister of State Owned Enterprises Mustafa Abubakar.

?We?ll make the announcement this afternoon at 5, just wait,? Mustafa said on Thursday.

The post for the upstream director of Pertamina has been left vacant since Bagus Setiarja tendered resignation due to health problem.

There has been rumors lately that Pertamina President Director Karen Agustiawan would also be replaced. But Mustafa has denied the rumors. He said that the government was looking for candidate to fill in the position of Pertamina upstream director.

According to the rumors, Karen would be promoted to become Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, which had been dismissed by both the government and Pertamina. (bernard)
