The government plans to develop 33 biodiesel tanks this year to help state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina meet the government?s 20 percent biodiesel mix program.

Director General of New and Renewable Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Rida Mulyana said Friday that the 33 tanks will have a combined capacity of 23 million kilo liters.

He said that Pertamina has been facing difficulties in implementing the mandatory biodiesel mix program due to the absence of tank facilities in certain regions such as in Maluku.

Rida said that the project requires total investment of Rp 68 billion to be financed by the 2016 state budget. He is optimistic that the 33 biodiesel tanks can be completed in a year. (*)
