Government to increase coal royalty next month

The government will imposed a higher coal royalty of 13.5 percent for coal miners holding the so-called IUP mining license starting next month as the revision of Government Regulation No 9/2012 on tariffs and types of non-tax state revenue is completed.
This was said by Director General of Coal and Mineral, R. Sukhyar recently.
The royalty tariffs for IUP coal miners currently range between 3.5-7 percent, depending on the heating value of the coal, which are lower than the current tariff of 13.5 percent paid by the miners holding the coal contracts of work, or PKP2B.
?This policy (higher royalty) is taken after discussing it with the House of Representatives, which also demand for an increase in the royalty of the IUP miners to 13.5 percent, or equal to the royalty paid by the PKP2B miners to ensure fairness,? Sukhyar said.
