Government to open oil, gas data to lure investors

The government will wide open access to the country?s oil and gas data in a bid to help lure fresh investment in the upstream sector, according to Director General of Oil and Gas Ego Syahrial.
He said late on Tuesday that the opening up of the oil and gas data will allow investors to better make analysis of the oil and gas subsurface potential in the country.
To help realize the plan, the government is currently in the process of revising Government Regulation No 35/2004 on upstream oil and gas activities, Ego said at the launch of Xplorer.id, a portal providing data and information on oil and gas blocks in Indonesia.
The event was attended among others by Deputy Minster of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar, former energy minister Subroto, and former deputy energy minister Susilo Siswoutomo.
