Government urged to cancel oil, gas project in Kangean-Madura

The National Space and Flight Agency (Lapan) has called on the government to cancel the oil and gas project plans by research and development of the directorate general of oil and gas of the ministry of mines and energy (Lemigas) on the Kangean Island in Madura to protect the local corral reef.

The Suara Pembaruan evening daily quoted at the weekend Lapan senior official Bidawi Hasyim as saying that the corral reef in the area was still in a good condition based on satellite monitoring.

Bidawi said that oil and gas project would destroy the corral reef. (*)
