The government has decided not to apply anti-dumping duty on cold-rolled stainless steel (CRS) products imported from six countries although they have been proven to have committed dumping practices, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.

The paper quoted Ernawati, Head of the Indonesian Anti Dumping Committee (KADI), as saying that the committee has concluded its investigation into alleged dumping practices in the import of CRS products from six countries including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, Taiwan and South Korea.

She said the committee in an April 2016 report said that producers from the six countries have been proven to have committed dumping practices, and recommends the government to apply anti-dumping duty.

Ernawati said, however, the government has decided not to apply the anti-dumping duty considering the impact of such measure on the local economy as domestic automotive and household utensils industries require a lot of CRS products.(*)
