Governor signs permit for Kalimantan-Java power transmission line

Central Kalimantan?s Govenor Agustin Teras Narang has signed a permit for the development of an underwater 350-km power transmission line from the province to Central Java, Antara news agency reported on Thursday.
The transmission line will deliver power from coal-fired power plants planned to be built in Central Kalimantan to Jepara regency in Central Java.
He said coal fired power plants will be built in Sukamara regency, Central Kalimantan but he did not provide any details about the power plant projects, nor explained whether the projects have been started. He only said the capacity of the power plant(s) will be more than enough to meet the needs of the province, that the excess power may be transmitted to Central Java or other provinces in Kalimantan.
Central Kalimantan is one of the major coal producers in the country, aside from East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and South Sumatra. (*)
