Govt announces winners of oil and gas tenders

The government on Friday announced 13 winners of the first stage of 2012 oil and gas working areas? direct offer mechanism and one winner of the second stage of regular tender mechanism in 2011, with the total investment committed amounting to US$233.41 million and signature bonus to be received by the government amounting to US$ 15.7 million
The ministry of energy and mineral resources said in a press release, issued during the 36th Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) convention and exhibition in Jakarta convention center (JCC) on Friday, that the 2012 direct offer mechanism was conducted from March 28 to May 14 this year, offering 14 working areas but only 13 of them got the interests of the tender participants. The working area failed to get interests of the companies is Tatihu, offshore Maluku.
But it also stated that only 12 out of the 13 winners could be established as winners now, because there was one working area, namely Marlin, offshore East Natuna, that was still under evaluation.
Total investment committed by the 12 winners for exploration is US$ 223,46 million, while signature bonus to be given to the government is US$ 14 million.
The second stage of 2011 regular tender was conducted from October 10, 2011, until February 22 this year. There were 9 working areas being offered, but only one, which is Kuningan working area, onshore of West Java and Central Java, got the interests of the companies. Based on the government?s evaluation, it has decided PT Equator Energy as the winner.
PT Equator Energy is committed to conducting explorations for 3 years, consisting of G&G study estimated to need US$ 1,05 million, and 2D seismic survey along 200 kilometer and drilling of one exploration well. Its total committed investment is US$ 9,95 million, while signature bonus to be given to the government is US$ 1 million.
