The Ministry of Trade has appointed 11 surveyor firms as of Thursday that would conduct coal export verification once the new export system becomes effective in October.

A source at the ministry told Petromindo.com that the 11 firms include PT Surveyor Indonesia, PT Sucofindo, PT Carsurin, PT Geoservices, PT Tomo and Son, PT Global Citra Buana, PT Consult Internasional Indonesia, PT Tanjung Nusa Newa, PT Surveyor Samudera, PT Triyasa Pirsa Utama, and PT Anindya Independent Surveyor.

The ministry has introduced a new export system, set to become effective in October, under which miners are required to obtain registered exporter status from the ministry to be able to ship coal overseas. To implement the new policy, aimed among others to obtain proper export data, ensure state revenue, and curb illegal mining, quality and experienced surveyor firms are crucial to conduct pre-shipment audit.

According to a new ministry regulations, the appointed surveyors must have at least five years experience, certified auditors, and minimum three laboratories.
