Govt approves tariff hike for PTBA's railway coal transportation

State Minister for State Owned Enterprises Sugiharto has agreed the proposal to increase the railway tariff for state owned coal producer PT Tambang Batubara Bara Bukit Asam's coal from its mining area in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra to Tarahan coal terminal in Tarahan, Bandar Lampung, Suara Karya reported on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters recently, Sugiharto said tat the decision to raise the tariff was based on recommendation made by Sucofindo Logistic and the appeal from members of the House of Representatives (DPR).
Under the tariff adjustment plant, the tariff for the transportation of PT BA's coal would be raised to Rp 300 per kilometer per ton for the route linking Tanjung Enim to Kertapati railway terminal in Palembang and another Rp 300 per ton per km for Kertapati to Tarahan coal terminal route.
At present, the tariff is set at Rp 182.93 per ton per km for Tanjung Enim to Kertapati segment and Rp 128.64 per ton per km for Kertapati and Tarahan segment. (*)
