Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo said on Monday evening that the government was considering providing incentives to miners who wanted to build smelter facility to process mineral ores before being exported as the government was eying to increase added-value of mining products.

?We will study it (the incentives)," Minister Martowardojo said without elaborating.

The government has imposed a 20 percent export duty for 65 unprocessed mining products since May before ban on mineral ore export would take place in 2014 as mandated by the 2009 Mining Law.

Industry Minester MS Hidayat earlier told Petromindo.com that the government expected to build about 30 to 50 smelters across the nation.
